Jalapeño poppers are a wonderful treat and a great snack. We make them often as an appetizer. You can easily use other peppers such as banana peppers if you want something not as hot.

It always pays to plan ahead

Great time to get those winter coats and coveralls, or maybe some neat antiques. Or 99 cent jeans.Or a lawn mower .

More than once I have found great finds for lots less. Bread machines and blenders are cheap on these days too but be sure to plug it in first, they have places to do that.

Too many of us are just like that this time of year when it comes to the temperature. We turn the heat on at night and the AC on during the day. Especially when the weather is pretty nice it is better to coast a little.

We close the windows when the sun goes down and then we open them during the day as soon as the outside temp gets the same as the inside temp.

We made need to put on long sleeves in the evening or mornings but overall it is pretty nice. The fresh air is better for us and we probably save a couple hundred dollars a year by doing this.

Take it into account when planning your spending. Some things like hanging clothes on the line and making bread from scratch can be great money savers but only if you have the time. In my opinion time is worth much more than money. But there are still times when I will go the more convenient more expensive route to have the time to so something important. It all matters what matters most to you.

Living our life with no regrets takes careful planning  .

Have you figured how much per usage it costs you? Have you figured how much each of the various options would be? You can save an amazing amount of money simply by learning how to compare. We use wood heat. In the long run other ways may be easier but for us we have plenty of woods and the ability to cut it. Now is it economical? Not if you figure in the time to work it but it puts us in control of how much we spend so in the long run yes. I do not like having an open ended utility bill. If you end up having the heat on more you have to pay it at the end of the month and it often can be a big surprise. If we choose to use more heat we know we just work a little harder. Utility bills can easily put you in debt if you aren’t careful. Be the lender and not the borrower. There is peace there.

It has been my experience that for the cost of one “out to eat” meal you could probably make 3 at home. If you know how. Knowledge in things you can do to serve your family is a worthwhile investment. Learning to to cook and sew can save you hundreds of dollars a year.

I tend to think of just about everything in terms of price per pound. When you do that cereal especially is very expensive. And so are a lot of other things that coupons are used for.

Planing can save us so much money if we will pay attention. I don’t get the Sunday paper so much for the coupons as much as the ads. I find many times I can get a better deal than the on using the coupon. But when bananas are 39 cents a pound I stock up on bananas!
